In Memory of Margaret Sellers Walker Morris
Our African American Heritage Fund was created in 2006 in response to community desire to create a philanthropic partnership between the African American community in Kent County and Grand Rapids Community Foundation. It was led by community leaders including but not limited to Shirley Daniels and Margaret Sellers Walker Morris. Mrs. Sellers Walker Morris is remembered for her volunteer service as a member of boards and advisory committees, including as a member of the Community Foundation's Board of Trustees. Margaret was a member of the boards of Fifth Third Bank, Dwelling Place, Hope Network, and Clark Retirement Community. She also served in multiple capacities at New Hope Baptist Church and as a member of the Grand Rapids Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., a public service sorority. The African American Heritage Fund is an endowed Field of Interest Fund with a current focus of providing education and job opportunities for African American youth. We are honored to accept memorial donations to honor Margaret and continue to grow the African American Heritage Fund.
